Whirlpool Washer LF Error

Troubleshooting and Repair - LF Error Code - WTW7500GC

Whirlpool Washer LF Error is a water fill error, it stands for Long Fill. It means that the main control has not gotten a signal back from the water pressure sensor which means that water is not filling the tub or not filling the tub fast enough. The control will shut down the cycle and report the LF error.

In most cases the LF (Long Fill) Error is caused by either low water pressure, stopped up screens on either the water supply lines or the water inlet valve. If the screens are clean and not causing any kind of blockage then the water inlet valve needs to be replaced. In some cases this can be caused by a bad main control but the causes above are much more common.

The replacement valve for the Whirlpool washer models WTW7500 can be ordered from the link below:

Questions For Error Code LF

Washer Won’t Fill

Whirlpool Cabrio washer wtw8500dc It won’t fill with cold water, but will fill with hot. I was able to wash a load on hot but once it got to rinse it gave me LF message. If I run a rinse/spin cycle, no water comes out. Filters and hoses have been checked and water comes out with good pressure from both hot and cold, but once reconnected cold won’t come out. Please help

That is common problem with the valve on that model washer, it has a thermistor built in the valve and when it goes bad the valve will do that. Replace the valve.

The valve you need is linked below:

Whirlpool Wtw7500gc0 Lf Code

My Whirpool wtw7500gc0 is not filling with water. After a while in the cycle it displays the long fill error code. Its not a problem with drainage but with getting water in. I checked the hoses and there is very good pressure. It have a faucet ability inside where you can press a button to let water in and that works. It is just in the cycle that water doesnt get let in. I checked that current will go through either side of each inlet valve prong and they do allow current. What do you think it could be? Thanks!

That problem is going to be with the main control board itself. The board you need for that model is W11040850.

Washer will work on first run usually, but then will start acting crazy and displaying the "LF" (long fill code. I have pulled and cleaned ; hoses, screens, and the inlet valve assembly. Put it back together and tried the cleaning cycle. It started off and filled the first time and when it started filling the second (i guess to rinse) it filled 1/3 - 1/2 and stopped with it slow spinning. It sat there doing this for approx. 10 minuets, then displayed the "LF" code again, and drained.

The water inlet valve needs to be repalced. That model is notorious for that issue because the water inlet valve has a thermistor built in and when it goes bad the valve does not work properly. The valve you need to replace is linked below. It's the correct valve according to the model you gave.

Getting Lf On Most Cycles

Whirlpool washer Model-WTW7300DW1 Ser-C72570095 I can wash loads of blankets/comforters in hot water using bulky cycle and it will complete the cycle but when using mixed or delicate(almost any cycle really) it will not fully wash and I get the LF code. I use mostly cool/warm water to wash unless it's towels or blankets. I ran the delicate cycle the other day and it left detergent all over the clothes. I even tried washing using the bulky cycle but not using hot water and it would not complete the wash. What could this be?

The water inlet valve needs to be replaced the cold side of the valve is bad. The valve you need for that model can be ordered at the link below.

Cabrio Washer Model Wtw8040dw2 Lf Code

What could be the problem? It works well with a super small load but anything medium load or more throws LF code. I've checked the level sensor hose and the inlets look clean....

That is a problem with the water inlet valve on those models. The valve has a built in thermistor and when the thermistor goes out it starts having  all kind of issues and it also has 3 valves and uses different solenoids on the valve depending on the cycle being used so one cycle may work ok and others not anyhow replace the valve they are notoriously known for causing problems on those models. The valve you need is linked below.

Lf Error On 3 Year-old Maytag

LF error code suddenly appeared a few minutes after the cycle started. Clothes got barely wet, then the washer beeped with the error code(been washing fine up until this). No water will come out on the wash cycles. I tried all other cycles and the only one that works is the "Clean with Affresh" cycle. Otherwise, the washer just begins to spin and no water comes out. Does that sound like a control board? Clearly there's no blockage since the cleaning cycle works. The washer is only 2-3 years old. Thank you.

I suspect your washer may be in a no water error mode. When you start a cycle on that model, and there is no water pressure or water pressure cuts off during the cycle, it goes into a no water error mode, causing the unit to run through an 8-minute reset mode, and all that will happen is the pump will run. The door will remain locked until after the 8-minute error cycle has completed. Once the error cycle ends, the door will unlock on its own, and the unit will reset. Still, you have to let it complete the full error cycle uninterrupted. If you stop it or unplug it during this error cycle, it will only reset the error it will not reset until you let it run the full 8-minute error cycle.

If after 8 minutes the washer does not reset and you have proper water pressure to the washer and you are still getting the LF error code then the water inlet valve on the washer has failed and needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps solve your problem. If you need the part information just post a new question requesting the part information along with the full model number of your washer.

Lf Code On Wtw8500dw4

Error message appears when I increase temperature of water, as the water slowly/barely trickles into the unit. Tried turning off the cold water, started the wash cycle, and the water did not come in at all. I also touched the inlet hose for the hot water, and I did not sense there was any water flowing into the hose and into the machine at all. Is that a inlet valve issue? Or some type of sensor issue?

That is a sensor issue but the sensor is built into the valve on that model so the water inlet valve assembly will need to be replaced. The valve you need can be ordered from the link below:

Lf code model wtw8500dr2

We’ve had three different teachs to our house and they’ve all tried different things. Cleaned filters assured hose is correct Nothing is fixing it for this model with an LF code would you not be able to repair the water inlet valve do you automatically go to thinking that it’s the control board

I am sure the techs tested the water inlet valve and found that the valve was good which is why they were saying it's the control board. If the valve is good and the LF error persists and there is proper water pressure being supplied to the washer then the only thing it can be is the wiring between the board and the valve or the board.

MayTag 2000 series washer displaying the LF error code

Hi, I asked the question on May 27, 2020 and purchased the hot water inlet valve after your recommendation. Unfortunately, replacing this part did not fix the issue with the LF code either. I can complete a rapid wash cycle of 30 minutes as I could before but can not wash on the standard cycle without the cycle ending prematurely with the LF error code. Any other recommendations? Thanks

I am sorry to hear replacing the valve did not fix your problem. The only thing left that it could possibly be is a bad control board. The fill circuit on the board is bad or it's throwing a false error, either way the control is bad.

MayTag 2000 series washer displaying the LF error code

I have a MayTag 2000 series front load washer that is about 10 years old. Over a week ago, it started displaying an LF error code about 14 minutes into the cycle. We Googled the issue and checked all the hoses and screens, replaced the water inlet valve, checked the drain pipe and checked the pressure switch to be sure it was operating but to no avail. Below is the water inlet valve that we replace with no trouble. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to be able to use my washer again. Thanks! Water Inlet Valve Genuine OEM Part # WPW10212596 | RC Item # 1551647

Ok so you were on the right track but you bought the wrong valve, you replaced the cold water valve but you should have replaced the hot water inlet valve. It's working 14 minutes into the cycle because it's filling with cold water but when it gets to that part of the cycle of whatever cycle you are using its calling for hot water and not filling, the hot water valve is a separate valve on those models. The valve is linked below:

Was working...then just stopped with LF

I moved to a new home, and hooked up both Washer and Dryer last week. I have run several loads through without issue. Last night I ran a load...and it got to almost done then stopped. Water still at bottom of washer. I have checked both hot and cold lines...and they both have pressure. Also, there is no blockage on the intake connectors on the washing machine. Ideas?

You need to replace the water inlet valve on the machine if the screens on the valve and hoses are clear. If you need the part info just come to the site chat and give me your model number and I will be glad to help, thanks.

LF code on whirlpool duet washer

Hi, I've checked water inlet hoses and hose beneath unit. I’ve replaced the cold water inlet valve and the pressure switch. The water lines to the washer are brand new since we just installed the plumbing for this washer/ dryer. The machine works fine on the Rinse/Spin cycle selection. What is the diagnosis for this? Whirlpool model: wfw9151wy00. Thank you.

Ok so on that model it does have two separate valves for the hot and cold water intake. The issue you are having is that you replaced the wrong valve. The rinse cycle works fine because rinse only uses cold water and that valve is good. When you first start the washer it uses a mix of hot and cold water from the two separate valves so the hot water valve is bad and causing the fill to take too long on the first fill of the cycle. Replace the hot water valve and it will be fine. The valve for your model is linked below:

LF Code

I've checked water inlet hoses and hose beneath unit. All are clear. The problem is the washer KEEPS FILLING (overfilling) until the LF error and then stops. Then I press Power and the unit drains. For some reason, it will not stop filling until this error occurs roughly 5-7 minutes into the wash cycle. And because it's overfilling, when the unit drains, some water pools and overspills onto the floor during the draining. The machine works fine on the Rinse/Spin cycle selection. What is the diagnosis for this?

Hello sorry to hear you are having trouble, I'm Joel and will be glad to help you today.

Replace the water level pressure switch.
