The Whirlpool Duet Washer F05 Error is a water temperature sensor error. When the water is being heating in the wash cycle and the water temperature sensor (NTC) resistance value is not within range the control will shut down the cycle and show the F05 error. Some models have a heating element and some do not but all have the temp sensor. For models without the heating element this error is almost always caused by the sensor. For models with the heating element the problem can be caused by a failed heater so it will need to be checked with an ohm/volt meter for continuity if it has continuity the heater is good. If the heater checks out good then replace the temp sensor. If the heater is bad replace the heater. If you want to check the temp sensor you will need to check the resistance of the sensor and compare it to the chart below depending on temperature. Usually you will use a range within room temperature if there is no water in the tub when you check it.

If the sensor is in range according the resistances listed on the chart above the sensor is good and if the element is good also you have a wiring issue between the main board and the sensor or the control is bad.
