F05 Error

Whirlpool Duet Washer F05 Error

Troubleshooting and Repair - F05 Error Code - GHW9150PW0

The Whirlpool Duet Washer F05 Error is a water temperature sensor error. When the water is being heating in the wash cycle and the water temperature sensor (NTC) resistance value is not within range the control will shut down the cycle and show the F05 error. Some models have a heating element and some do not but all have the temp sensor. For models without the heating element this error is almost always caused by the sensor. For models with the heating element the problem can be caused by a failed heater so it will need to be checked with an ohm/volt meter for continuity if it has continuity the heater is good. If the heater checks out good then replace the temp sensor. If the heater is bad replace the heater. If you want to check the temp sensor you will need to check the resistance of the sensor and compare it to the chart below depending on temperature. Usually you will use a range within room temperature if there is no water in the tub when you check it.

If the sensor is in range according the resistances listed on the chart above the sensor is good and if the element is good also you have a wiring issue between the main board and the sensor or the control is bad.

Questions For Error Code F05

F05

I have a Maytag MFW9600SQ0 front load washer that often times gives the F05 error code approx 3 minutes after starting the load. I notice it happening most often when I have selected the cold water setting. YouTube indicates that it might be the door latch or the water sensor. When this happens, I can stop the cycle (already stopped by the error) open and close the door and restart the cycle. Sometimes it starts up and sometimes I need to do this 3+ times. We have not made any repairs yet Any advise?

See the error information linked below as it applies to your washer as well. Your washer has both a sensor and heating element so the problem could be either one. The troubleshooting listed on the page linked below will tell you how to determine which is causing the problem.

F05 & Sud

I am constantly getting F05 and SUD error codes. I have used the washer without and detergent at all and still get the SUD code. F05 comes on about 5-7 times during a wash. So I changed the temperature sensor and it still does it. Now it's giving me a third code as well, F02. Do you have any suggestions? I have model GHW9150PW4. Thanks!

I see this problem all the time and it's caused by a bad impeller or a weak drain pump motor. Replace the washer drain pump and it will be fine although it may be running and draining some water it's not moving enough water fast enough to satisfy the control. The drain pump you need for that model is linked below.

F05 error code

I have tested and replaced the NTC ( temperature sensor). The machine is still showing F05 code. I am being told that my machine, GHW9100LW2, has a heating element. I can’t find the heating element. What else can be throwing this code?

That model does not have a heater. If you replaced the sensor and still get the f05 error then check the wiring from the sensor to the ccu (main control) if the wiring is ok then the CCU has failed and is throwing false errors.
