Whirlpool Duet Dryer PF Error

Troubleshooting and Repair - PF Error Code - WED8300SW0

The PF error stands for power failure. It means the dryer encountered a power failure while it was running. Simply press the start button to continue the cycle or press the pause/cancel button to clear the error from the display. If the error is persistent check the dryer plug at the terminal and make sure the dryer plug prongs are tightened down properly to dryer terminal block and check for any loose wiring at the main control. Also double check the wall plug and your home wiring. If all that looks good then the main board will need to be replaced.

Questions For Error Code PF

PF error code

Whirlpool Duet model WED9200SQ0. Replaced the thermistor and high limit switch after Error code F25. Cleaned out the lint from the unit and dryer exhaust venting. Got great air flow. Ran dryer for 6 loads, worked perfectly. 7th load, got PF error code. Followed the tech sheet diagnostics, pointing to replacing the control board electronics. Question is: could my replacing the thermistor and high limit switch have caused or contributed to the control board going out? Or is it just a coincidence that the control board went out? Could I have somehow connected the wires incorrectly on my first repair, causing the control board to fail? I really appreciate your help. Thank you.

Nothing you did caused the PF error. Even if you reversed the wiring on the components you replaced it would not have hurt anything. I am going to say coincidence on that one. Those boards are crazy expensive if you know how to solder you can just buy the repair kit below and rebuild your board for much cheaper.

Getting PF Error Code After Change Dryer Power Cord From 4 Prong to 3 Prong

I changed power cord to 3 prong, now i see PF code Does this machine take 3 prong?

All electric dryers are compatible with the 3 prong cords, if you have a 3 prong outlet to plug it in at. You must have a loose wire on the power cord or a wire fell of the dryer terminal. PF means power failure so the control is not getting the proper voltage or the voltage is dropping when the dryer is running. Check the cord connection at the dryer terminal. Make sure the middle wire on the dryer cord is connected to the middle terminal on the dryer the other two don't really matter as long as there is one on each side. Make sure the connections are tight and that the screws are all the way down and pressing the connector on the cord firmly against the terminal block contact. Then check and make sure the the wires on the dryer that connect to the dryer terminal block did not fall off in the process. If the wiring checks out ok then you may want to change out the breaker for the dryer and if that does not help the main control board on the dryer may be failing.
