After changing the latch assembly on the cambrio whirlpool wtw85880co type 580-05 the du code continued. the door would not unlock. what could be causing this?

The Whirlpool washer dU error code is a door unlock error.
When a washer cycle is started the main control will attempt to lock and unlock the door to check for proper operation of the door lock mechanism, after 6 failed attempts the ACU (main control board) will shut the machine down and show the dU error code on the display of the user interface. Even though you are shown dU on the display it stores the code in memory as F5E3.
Things you can check:
Check the wiring harness from the door lock mechanism to the ACU (main control board), make sure the connectors are seated properly.
Check and make sure the door latch is not broken or out of place and that it's not obstructing the door lock mechanism in any way.
If all the above checks out ok then you need to replace the door lock assembly.
