The Whirlpool Duet Dryer Error E2 means the control has detected that the thermistor is shorted. This error can be a wiring issue from the control to the thermistor or a bad thermistor. In some cases it can be a bad control reporting false errors but this is not common. The thermistor is almost always the cause of the E2 error. The F6 E2 error code on Whirlpool Dryers is a Communication From the Central Control Unit To the User Interface So yes it could be both boards but not likely. If you want to figure out which board is the issue and you have an ohm meter and know how to use it the tech sheet provided below has all the information to troubleshoot that error. First to Test #1 CCU Power Check  on page 11. If that checks out replace the user interface first and then replace the CCU if that does not fix it.

Duet Dryer Error code E2

I replaced the thermostat the high limit heating element check the wires are all good yet the dryer still will not stay on after two minutes of running what else could it possibly be?

You replace the thermostat and element but that error is caused by a failed thermistor. You need to replace the thermisor.  Part ordering and replacement information for the thermistor can found at the link below.
