F22 Error

Whirlpool Duet Washer F22 Error

Troubleshooting and Repair - F22 Error Code - WFW9200SQ00

The F22 error is displayed when the door lock mechanism has attempted to lock the door at least 6 times with no success. This is most commonly caused by a failed door lock assembly. It could be other things like something in the way of the lock bolt engaging, a wiring issue or it could be the lock circuit in the main control board. Try and reset the control by unplugging the washer for a minute. If after plugging it back up the problem continues just replace the door lock mechanism since that is the most common issue. You can order the door lock assemlby from the link below, the page also shows how to change it out.

Replaced Lock Mechanism, Still Get F22 Error Code

I have a WFW9400SW03 that I was getting F22 error code. Replaced the door lock mechanism, ensure all wires firmly in place, door latch is in tact and in place, but still getting the F22 error code even after unplugging for more than 1 minute and cancelling code.

If everything you stated is acurate then the main control needs to be replaced on the washer.

F22 and C32

Whirlpool Duet ht- WFW9600TW Hi, I believe my washing machine door lock mechanism needs to be replaced. I got the error message and unable to open the door with the laundry still inside. How can I release the door manually to remove the items inside? Your assistance is very much appreciated. Best regards, Daisy

Hello Daisy,

To manually open the door:

To open the door manually:

1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Remove the lower kick panel.
3. Reach up along the inside of the front and locate the bottom of the door switch/lock unit.
4. Located on the bottom of the door switch/lock unit is a tear-drop shaped tab.
5. Gently pull the tab down about a ¼” or until a click is heard.
6. The door should be opened.

The door lock assembly you need to order for that model is linked below:

F-22

I replaced the locking mechanism but i am still getting the flashing F-22 alarm. I looked at the wires and none of them were loose. I am missing the latches on the inside of the door that the locking mechanism connects too. Could that be the issue of why it is still flashing the alarm?

Yes, you need to replace the latch if it's missing if the door is not locking correctly the control will not allow a cycle to start and will give the error you are getting.
