The Whirlpool Duet Washer F09 Error is a overflow condition error. It means the overflow contacts on the water level pressure switch have been closed for more than 60 seconds. When this error occurs the central control unit will turn the drain pump on indefinitely as a safety precaution to keep the washer from flooding your home.

When you get this error first unplug the washer and see if water continues to enter the machine. If it does the water inlet valve on the washer has failed and will have to be replaced. Immediately turn off your home's water supply to the washer until it can be repaired. However if the water stops entering the washer when you unplug it, the problem is not being caused by the water inlet valve.

The next thing to check would be to make sure the drain pump filter is not stopped up with debris. Check and clean out the drain pump filter. If the pump filter is clean make sure the drain pump is running if you are getting this error and do not hear the pump running it's either not getting voltage from the control or it is and the drain pump has failed. If the pump is running but the washer is not draining check the tub to pump hose and the drain hose for blockage. Check for voltage at the drain pump if it has voltage and is not running replace the drain pump. If there is no voltage replace the central control unit.

If the drain pump is running and the washer is draining ok and water is not constantly entering the machine then replace the water level pressure switch.
